"[I learned] That it is my choice to remain abstinent. To use all the energies that I employed in my alcoholism and flip them over so they can be used for a positive life. Be aware of triggers. Be sensible about not putting myself in dangerous places (pubs, parties, people). Be honest with other and explain firmly that I ‘don’t do that anymore.’ Remember the horror of addiction, know my boundaries, beware of any inherent weaknesses I may have in a given situation, appreciate the help and support of loved ones."
